The German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) represent Europe’s largest textile research centre, with an area covering 25,000 square metres and a research staff of over 300 employees. Three research institutions are combined under one roof:
- Institute of Textile Technology and Process Engineering Denkendorf (ITV)
- Institute for Textile Chemistry and Chemical Fibers (ITCF)
- Centre of Management Research (DITF-MR)
The DITF with its institutes and research facilities is the only textile research institution worldwide that spans the entire textiles production and supply chain:
- from molecule to product
- from idea to market-friendly solution
- as a reliable commercial partner.
The DITF conducts interdisciplinary research and development projects involving chemistry, material sciences, process technology, material technology, mechanical engineering and plant design and management.
The German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) conduct applied research along the whole production chain in close cooperation with international networks. Applying product and technology-oriented innovations and management concepts, the DITF boost its customers’ ability to compete and helps secure their region, Germany and Europe as beneficial economic locations. Contracting bodies are industrial enterprises and large-scale service providers as well as the state. Our main goal is to convey scientific results to the industry.
The three scientific institutions under the roof of the DITF represent – in the form of an internationally unique research constellation – the complete spectrum of textile technology and economy. From fibres via fabrics, the DITF conduct top-quality research in all areas of textile technology including textile mechanical engineering and plant design as well as in management. Apart from the classic textile topics, new topics are becoming more and more in the focus of research – topics promising a high innovation potential regarding the future of the textile industry. Important fields of the future here are technical textiles, life sciences, environment, energy, and materials technology.
