ComErgen Inc. is a research and development company developing a range of technology platforms centered around alternative energy sectors like hydrogen and biodiesel, micro-flow based nanoparticle synthesis for pharmacutical industry and heterogeneous catalysis. Furthermore, ComErgen is a spin-out company of ThalesNano Inc. - itself an innovation led company involved in research into micro and nanoscale chemistry. ThalesNano uses ComErgen hydrogen generating technologies in its R&D100 Award winning H-Cube™, which is revolutionizing the way hydrogenation reactions are performed in the pharmaceutical drug development industry. ComErgen has three divisions, Alternative Energy, Nanoparticle Technology and Catalysis.
Adopting Thalesnano' microfluidic flow synthesis technology, ComErgen designed nanostructures with controllable shape and size, especially for catalysis and active pharmaceutical ingredients in medical applications. The evolution of the nanoparticle production iniciated the development of high pressure small volume H-Cell for alternative energy industry, chemical industry, mainly pharmaceutical applications as well as for aerospace and defence industry (e.g., drone filling).
ComErgen's nanoparticle technology group is using micro- and mesoflow technologies developed by Thalesnano Inc. for the synthesis of different types of nanoparticles. These techniques have considerable advantages over batch based process due to the higher surface to volume ration, improved heat and mass transport, significantly enhanced mixing effects and higher reaction rates. The ComErgen's N-Cube™ is a user-friendly bench-top instrument for the rapid synthesis of a wide range of nanostructures (e.g., nobel metals, Quantum Dots, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients). The N-Cube™ allows rapid reaction optimization and characterization as well as ultra-reliable reproducibility of reactions. In addition scale up in flow based reactors is substantially easier. Resulting from its requirement to have specially built flow-reactors for its research, ComErgen is commercializing these technologies in the form of an instrumentation line. This enables other research groups to benefit from ComErgen's unique know-how in micro-flow based nanoparticle synthesis.
